Monthly Visits at Pet Supermarket

We have teamed up with Pet Supermarket to showcase our mutts! Come join us on the third Saturday of every month, 11am - 3pm and meet your future canine companion! Pet Supermarket is located at 6730 Odana Rd, Madison, about one block east of West Towne Mall.

A New Name!

As of February 1, 2008, we have changed our name from Shelter Support Service to Madison Mutts! We have several newer groups in our area with similar names as ours. We offer a very unique and client centered service and we don't want to be confused with other groups as everyone does things a little bit differently. We also think it helps better convey our passion: that every dog deserves a good home, pure-bred or street-fed!

Reunion 2007

On September 16, Madison Mutts held our annual reunion, where we invite past adopters (and, of course, their rescued dogs!) to mingle and share their stories. With over 140 attendees, this year's reunion truely unveiled the strong sense of loyalty and love our adopters share. Thank you everyone for coming! We hope to see you next year! About Madison Mutts

Melissa Smith, Director

Madison Mutts is an all-breed dog rescue based in southern Wisconsin that supports animal rescue shelters throughout the upper Midwest. We take in dogs that, through no fault of their own, are sitting on "death row". We provide them a safe, nurturing home environment, any necessary medical care, emotional support and the training they need in order to find a new home.

After evaluation, the animals live in our homes until a match is made. The personal interaction provided by our foster homes, as well as exercise and evaluation with volunteers, vets and trainers, gives us the opportunity to know the unique personalities of each individual dog. This is a big advantage to adopters who want to provide a “forever home”.

We also help private owners to responsibly place their pets through listings on our website. Madison Mutts has an ongoing commitment to rescuing dogs and educating the community. We work to provide spay and neuter clinics as well as local awareness workshops. We are a non-profit organization and are thankful to all of our donators, volunteers and support staff, and most importantly, we are grateful to the people who visit this site and adopt our wonderful animals. You are the world to these dogs.
